General Rules for Y.D.S. 2024 Competitions
Welcome to our 2024 Competitions!
We invite all artists worldwide to showcase their talent and display their work in our Contest Cove by entering the Y.D.S. Awards competition. You do not need to be an exhibitor to participate. Please review the following rules carefully.
1. Participation Requirements:
- Mandatory Presence: You and your contest entry must be present at the Awards Banquet to be eligible to win an award.
- Number of Entries: There is no limit on the number of babies you may submit in each category. You may register several times in each category with different babies. Each registration requires its own fee.
2. Registration and Dates:
- Registration Deadline: The deadline to register is October 30th. Once you have purchased your contest entry, sign up for a time slot to submit your entry using the provided link.
- Submission Dates: Entries must be submitted on Friday, December 6th, 2024, from 1:15 PM to 6:30 PM by appointment only. Please ensure you arrive at your designated time as we cannot extend the entry period.
3. Submission Rules:
- Cost: The entry fee is $36 USD per entry. Each piece requires its own fee and registration. All fees must be paid in full before your submission will be accepted. Fees are non-refundable.
- Dress Code: Bring your submission(s) dressed in costume/attire, as it is part of the judging criteria. All submissions and props must be hidden from view at all times before registration.
- Supplies: You are responsible for bringing any posing supplies, pillows, blankets, and props for your entry piece. After the Awards Banquet, you are also responsible for retrieving all props and posing materials. YDS is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged display items or contest submissions.
- Display Area: Each entry’s display area must not exceed 35 inches wide x 29 inches deep x 47 inches tall.
- Handling: Owners will be the last to touch their contest entries when placing them on the show floor. After placement, only judges will be allowed to handle submissions as they gently inspect each piece during the judging process.
- Photography and Usage: YDS will take photographs of each submission with all accessories. By entering, you agree that Yophi Doll Show may use these photos and information for promotional purposes.
- Nude Entries: Nude submissions are not permitted. All infant and toddler entries must have genitalia covered while on display. Adult entries must have breasts and genitalia covered. While the nude body is considered art by many, we are a family-friendly event and respect the discretion of parents regarding what their children view.
4. Judging and Awards:
- Judging Criteria: Entries will be evaluated based on overall aesthetic appeal, excellence in concept, design, execution, and quality of workmanship. The judging panel will nominate 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category, except for Best Rooted and Best Hair Painting, which will have only a 1st place award.
- Awards: First place winners will receive a custom-made trophy including a 2024 mini baby by artist Bonnie Brown and an award certificate. Second and third place winners will receive a medal and an award certificate.
- Category Changes: If there are insufficient entries in a category, YDS reserves the right to remove that category from the competition and reassign entries to a different, appropriate category.
5. Additional Rules:
- Originality: Only original, non-plagiarized kits will be accepted. If a counterfeit or illegal kit is detected, photos will be deleted without refund.
- Previous Winners: Entries for babies that have previously competed and won are not allowed.
- Sales: Dolls may not be sold during the contest. If you wish to sell your doll after the contest, you will need to purchase a table or booth. Submissions must remain in the contest area until after the Awards Banquet.
